Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I have to call or text 30 minutes before arrival?
A: Lakes Edge is run by a team of 12 people including cleaners and groundsmen, no one lives at the estate so we need a little warning that you’re not too far away. By calling us around 30 minutes before you arrive you give us a chance to arrive at the site for your check in. We also usually like to have an ETA from you, our check in is from 4pm but sometimes traffic isn’t on anyones side and you might be running a bit later than planned. If you let us know you’re going to be late it may mean we can pop home, feed the dog etc. If you know when booking that you won’t be able to arrive until late in the evening, please let us know so we can ensure there is a member of staff to welcome you on that day.
Q: What is the On Call phone for?
A: The On Call phone is held by management staff so guests can get in touch to give an ETA and call 30 minutes before arrival. The On Call phone can also be used to let the management know about any problems between 9am and 5pm. In the event of an emergency (fire or accident) please call 999 and use the What 3 Words on the front of the welcome pack. For an issue with the gas, plumbing or swimming pools do call the On Call phone and we will arrange an engineer as quickly as we can.
If you have a question or would like to double check something, please check the welcome pack in the first instance, if your query isn’t solved then pop us a message and we will reply between the hours of 9am and 5pm, alternatively on a weekend we will be on site between 7.30am and 10am.
Q: Is the pool just for us?
A: If you have booked The Barn, Poachers Barn or The Gaggles then each of these properties comes with a private pool, just for you.
Q: What temperature are the pools set at?
A: The pools are set to 28 degrees which is what our engineers recommend. This is the temperature of most commercial pools, it’s a temperature which the chemicals are stable at and won’t degrade our pool liners as warmer water would. As our bodies operate at a higher temperature than the water, it will feel cool to start with, however, once you start moving around, playing with the kids and having a swim it soon feels warmer. The air is set at 30 degrees to minimise condensation and make it nice and warm when you get out of the water.
Q: How big are the pools?
A: The Barn and Poachers pools are 8m x 4m and 1.4m deep. Gaggles Pool is a little bigger at 4.5m x 8m and 1.4m deep
Q: How do you make sure the pools are safe for us to use?
A: We pool test every day at 7.30AM, we will grab a sample of pool water and test it to ensure there is adequate chlorine and that the PH and alkalinity are correct. To do this we need access to the pool for just a couple of minutes to get the sample. If we need to dose the pool with anything we will do this as quickly as possible and ensure the pool is ready to be used by 9am at the latest. If you’d like to swim early, let us know and we can arrange a time to check and dose the pool.
Q: Where is the nearest pub?
A: The nearest pub is The Fishermans Arms in Docklow. It would take roughly 10 minutes to drive there and about an hour to walk through the lanes.
Q: Where is the nearest supermarket?
A: In Leominster about 4 miles away there is a Co-op, Aldi and Morrisons. All information is in the welcome pack.
Q: Can I get a supermarket delivery?
A: Absolutely! We recommend you address your delivery to Pudleston Court, Leominster, HR60QY then put in the driver information the property name. For Adam and Eve Lodge they will need the front gate and for Gardeners Cottage, The Barn, Poachers Barn, Butlers Cottage and The Gaggles you will need the rear gate (worth putting in the notes). The delivery is for you to sort out, the estates staff will happily point the driver in the right direction but we won’t unpack it into the house or take it into the office ready for your arrival. Please make sure that you book it for when you know you will be on site so you can open the gates to let them in and take in your shopping.
Q: What restaurants do you recommend?
A: Our ever growing list of recommended restaurants is on the we recommend page of the website and we send out a list in the welcome pack.
Q: Can we take our dog for walks around the estate?
A: Yes! We love our furry guests but when walking on the estate they must be kept on a lead. Everyone always thinks they have the best dog but if you meet another dog who is a bit nervous or even a human who isn’t great with dogs then it’s safer for everyone if every dog is on a lead. It would be pandemonium if we just let them all run free all of the time!
If you have a dog who is used to walking without a lead or you want to throw a ball for them, we have a new fenced area at the top of the estate for this purpose, there are tennis balls to throw, footballs to chase, benches to sit on and even a tap for thirsty pups (or very muddy ones).
Please also remember to pick up dog poo when out walking or just letting them run around the garden, we have silver bins in the woods and in the dog run area or they can go in the black bins at the properties.
Q: Are there BBQs?
A: Yes!
The Barn and Poachers Barn have gas BBQs which we have gas tanks for.
The Gaggles, Butlers Cottage and Gardeners Cottage have charcoal BBQs which you will need to bring charcoal for.
Adam and Eve have fire pits which have grills to place over the top for BBQing, they take charcoal which guests will have to provide.
Please keep fire pits off the grass as they scorch it. Fire pits are only for use on the patio.
Q: Can we bring inflatables for the pool?
A: If you have booked a property with a private pool – either (Butlers, Gaggles or Poachers) you are welcome to bring all of the inflatables, games and swimming accessories you like. All we ask is for the door ways not to be blocked so we can test the pools in the morning without hopping over inflatable unicorns or crocodiles.
