Things To Do, Places To Go
We love supporting local businesses, here you’ll find an ever growing list of places we recommend
Ludlow Food Festival is our ‘go to’ event in September (they have other events in May and August too). Set inside the castle ruins in the beautiful, oh so foodie, town of Ludlow the festival has been running 26 years and it just gets better and better – we like to keep it balanced with an ice cream in one hand and a beer in the other.

CSons are a Ludlow gem. This beautiful cafe is set on the banks of the River Teme so not only are the views glorious but the food is fab too, the owners have lived all over the world and the menu easily reflects that. You can also pop by for a takeaway coffee and cake, we like their labneh doughnuts which might just be the best use of labneh yet!

The Boot Inn, Orleton is the heart of this small village. During the pandemic their takeaway menu was an absolute sensation which quickly gained support from all the surrounding villages. Their food is simple pub classics done extremely well.
We love their Sunday lunch followed by the panna cotta.

The Charlton Arms is situated on the edge of the cliff, high up above the the River Teme in Ludlow. With views across the town it’s undoubtedly a wonderful place to have a drink on a sunny day. However, The Charlton doesn’t stop with great views and a good range of local ales, the food is also fantastic! Their menu reflects the season well and has something for everyone so it’s the perfect setting for date night, family meal or catch up with friends. Their service is always spot on, it’s no wonder they won a Bib Gourmand in 2019 which was so well deserved and we can’t wait for them to open up again.

Pensons is a revelation. Since receiving its first Michelin star after only a few months, it’s gone from strength to strength. They use the best local produce which reflects their ethos of being an ingredient-led restaurant, having the emphasis is on seasonality and freshness which is evident from the moment you sit down. Whether you choose the a la carte or one of the tasting menus, Pensons is sure to bring the wow factor.

The Church Inn is a 14th Century, Grade 2 listed hidden treasure. Blink and you’ll miss it as you stroll past the Buttercross and into the market square but The Church Inn is not one to be missed. The hearty British pub boasts great, local, handpicked ales and an entire wall of gin! There are traditional board games set into some of the tables to play whilst you wait which we love! The food is as good as you’d expect from people who pay this much attention to detail, the menu is pub classics done beautifully.

Mortimers chef Wayne Smith has worked with everyone from Tom Aitkens to the Queen of Brunei! His food is exemplary which is why we recommend Mortimers to so many of our guests. Whether you visit for an a la carte lunch or go the whole hog and have the wonderful evening tasting menu, the food is always of an incredible standard (we also love the wine pairings) Make sure you put this one on your list, and get it booked when you stay with us, you won’t be disappointed.
